Don’t Get Caught In A Scam

More and more people are falling victim to internet scams. The more popular one it seems is currency exchanges. A person needs to exchange PayPal for MoneyBookers or E-Gold, or some combination, so they search out the webmaster forums of the world seeking prey, and they usually find it.

When you are involved in the exchange of currency, its best to find out as much as possible about the person your dealing with. Check their forum profile, read comments left by others who have dealt with this person, read about some of their older deals, see how they went.

Never make a deal solely through the use of instant messaging, if someone contacts you and desires an exchange, make them message you through the forum they are known at, thus proving at least they are who they say they are. Its probably much safer to not deal with people who aren’t established.

A good guide to online financial transactions, posted by karl turnbull can be found here at Digital Point. Another good reference was posted by Notting and can be read here.

Deals like these are found at places like TalkGold, Digital Point, The V7 Network, Site Point Forums and many others. Members of these forums have their posts and iTraders kept track of so they can be viewed and in the case of posts, commented on. This gives us the ability to see and try to find out what kind of person we are getting ready to give money too. Remember, if a deal sounds too good, its probably not.

Report and discuss internet scammers.
